  1. OMG guys, reading your comments and realizing the mistake I made… I didn’t cut open the core of the tomato! BAHH!!! I shall try this again and update you…

    1. Hey at least you tried.. and now figured out what the dealio was lol. I’m working on veganizing a requested Japanese recipe, and I’m pretty sure there’s going to be some trial and error with that 😜

    2. Definitely core the tomato, but wait for summer when tomatoes are actually in season. You can’t get truly ripe, flavorful tomatoes any other time of year, unless you live in a warm climate (I don’t think Canada qualifies. 😜) Oh, and I just watched the ‘Strictly Dumpling’ video, he didn’t core it, but he used a tomato that has a smaller core (like the ones that are sold on the vine), his tomato was definitely riper, and the recipe calls for 2 tsps of salt, not 1. Maybe those things will help? Huh… on his second batch, he said 1 tsp of salt. Don’t know which is correct! 😳

  2. HOT TIP: Put store bought tomatos in your window sill for 2-4 days……it ripens the tomato and tastes sweeter and more like a fresh garden picked tomato! YUM……YUM……YUM

  3. I make with a tomato per every cup of rice, so it’s more tomatoey! I also add a little Italian seasoning. And definitely core the tomato! I went through a phase where I was making this a couple times a week after I saw his video! 😋😋😋
