Why were you surprised to find vegan options in Serbia? In Eastern Europe main religion is Greek Orthodox and for half a year they eat a diet very close to vegan (red meat, poultry, dairy and eggs are prohibited, but fish and honey allowed). So as a result many traditional dishes in those regions have developed to be naturally vegan so people can eat them during fasting. That especially applies to pastries and other deserts. I find much more naturally vegan dishes in Eastern Europe than I do in USA.
3 course meal for 20 euros, thats awesome i was eating in the wrong places haha
it’s cool to see what there is in different places 🙂
heyy, vegan from serbia here,i was so happy you visited belgrade, it’s pretty easy being vegan here, grocery vise, most vegan things are labeled with ‘posno’,unless they have fish in it, it’s a religious thing mostly

I was super surprised how vegetarian friendly Eastern Europe was too! I went to this amazing vegan restaurant in Bratislava in Slovakia and fun fact…Subway has falafel as an option in eastern europe!
