What is it?
Switchel is a fermented drink that combines the benefits of apple cider vinegar, maple syrup and ginger/turmeric for a refreshing and electrolyte fuelled drink. Switchel debatably originated in the Caribbean, but New England also holds credit as the source of switchel, and it became a popular summer drink in the American Colonies in the late 17th century. By the 19th century, it had become a traditional drink to serve to thirsty farmers at hay harvest time, hence the nickname haymaker’s punch. Source -Wikipedia

Thanks for the recipe, Geremie! Will give it a try this weekend. A less sugary kombucha-type drink sounds great.
