Fig Smushed Anise Almond Cookies:
1/4 cup soy milk
2 tsp ground flaxseed, or 1 1/2 tsp whole flaxseeds
1 1/4 cups demerara sugar/turbinado sugar (Sugar in the Raw)
2/3 cup canola oil
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp anise extract
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup finely chopped almonds (start with slivers or slices)
12 dried black mission figs, rough stem removed, cut in half lengthwise

I read that the ones in California aren’t pollinated, so that would hopefully mean there aren’t any dead wasps in there…. but who knows.
