No, you can’t knead too much – it will become hard. So, it just takes practice. But Looks good we will try this. Yes, cut it up and put in stir-fry!
Tough dough, huh? That’s how I felt about the vegan hot dog I tried… Not worth the calories.
I have a suggestion for steaming (I make HotNODogs with the vital wheat gluten) I just use my “I” Pot. I use the Brags Aminos instead of the soy (less salt), I would broil them (we can’t oil), OR stirfry in the wok. Those do look yummy! I will try making them for hubbs Harry. Thank you and G-d bless!
Ok, so, i skipped to the end to watch your reaction and i didn’t watch you make it yourself, but as someone who has cooked with seitan multiple times, I can tell you that you most likely made a mistake somewhere. Most likely either over kneaded it or didn’t add enough water. Every batch of wheat gluten is different because of the process of separating the gluten and the starch, so each batch requires different amounts of water to activate properly. When kneading, it is important to stretch the dough and then reshape it repeatedly to activate the gluten strands.
Also, I see that you steamed it, I prefer to boil mine, to keep it moist, personally, but if you are steaming it, please add extra water to the mix, and you should let it sit in the marinade for roughly and hour or so, at least. Ideally, you let it sit in a marinade over night
Maybe it works, but does it have a 401k?
sugar in marinade will “burn” or caramelize in the fry pan
maybe add mushroom to the seitan
